Henry Hitt
A funeral service for Silas Henry Hitt of Castleton was held Friday at 2 p.m. at Black Oak Church at Eggbomsville conducted by Elder C. Wayne Richard. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Hitt, 68, died April 28, 1971 at his residence. He was a native of Culpeper County, son of the late James Hitt and the late Ellen Frances Gooch Hitt. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Eva Agnes Whorton Hitt; one son, Charles Henry Hitt of Amissville; five daughters, Mrs. Harry Woodard of Brandy Station, Mrs. Horace Scott of Viewtown, Mrs. Elwood Clatterbuck of Manassas, Mrs. James H. Settle of Castleton and Mrs. Everett R. Smith of Amissville; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lester Spicer of Culpeper; and one brother Thomas E. Hitt of Culpeper.
