There exists throughout America today a strong movement to preserve the natural environment and it is urged that all citizens in our County stand together to prevent any and all proposals that deny us the privilege of preserving the unspoiled landscape of our Virginia hills. The federal government and state governments have supported this move to beautify America, for example, unsightly road signs have been ruled out on our highways, auto dumps must be sheltered from the eye, and fines have been imposed on “litterbugs.” To enhance the beauty of our countryside, hundreds of items' and shrubs have, been planted which are pleasing to the eye. Highways and bridges have made great progress in their construction, and modern technology has been applied which improves their utility as well as eye-appeal. To narrow down our problem - a severe one - visualize this manmade tower obstructing forever a beautiful skyline - it becomes a sharp pain of ugliness, doesn’t it? Sightseers drive for miles to view the natural beauty of our County -- isn’t it time to pause to measure the permanent damage these / towers will cause? Not only to those of us who love the peacefulness of the hills, the quiet charm of a sunrise, and the stillness of a sunset, but to the thousands of motorists who delight driving to our County to view the wonderment of this community.
