Kermit Weakley inspects his caged tomato plants in his garden at Washington. Mr. Weakley has chosen the wire cage method of growing tomatoes instead of staking and tying them up to keep them off of the ground. A cage made of fencing or re-enforcing wire is placed in a circle around the plant holding it upright as it grows. The wire is about five feet high and these plants are more than six feet now.
