Calf sale April 19

APPROXIMATELY 2000 head of cattle have been consigned to the Spring Calf and Yearling Sale to be held at the Fauquier Livestock Exchange in Marshall. Sale day is Thursday, April 19, with bidding scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

This is the first sale of the year sponsored by the Marshall Feeder Calf Association. The association is made up of beef men who have pooled their talents for producing top cattle and offering them for sale in one of the best special sales in Virginia. Cattle may weigh 300 to 500 pounds for calves and 500 to 1000 pounds for yearlings, except heifers. Heifers may not weigh more than 700 pounds.

All heifers and calves must be tagged with the official metal ear tag and vaccinated with tri-boc at least seven days and not more than 30 days before the sale. Cattle sold on Thursday have weighed, sorted and State graded to offer you the choice you want to put on pasture for summer fattening. Purchase cattle on Thursday and be ready to take advantage of the State Graded Slaughter Cattle sales for this fall. □
