FAUQUIER HOSPITAL opened its doors December 28, 1958, and had one 28-bed addition constructed in 1969.

The annual “patient-day level” of 1972 was approximately 25,000 and is projected to grow to 42,000 by 1982. Projected bed needs are expected to grow from the 1972 level of 90 beds to 125 beds by 1976 to 150 beds by 1982, Green said.

Because of the expansion, the average total cost to the patient will be increases approximately $20 per day. In spite of the increase the Fauquier Hospital’s per patient day cost will continue to be one of the lowest in the area.
