Pursuant to the authority granted the County of Rappahannoek by Section 29-184.2 of the 1950 Code of Virginia, as amended, to levy license tax on dogs and in accordance with Chapter 304, Acts of the General Assembly of Virginia, approved March 30, 1942, at page 428, (H B 432), and upon motion of E. P. Luke, seconded by J. R. Latham and passed, the following resolution is proposed for adoption at the next regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Rappahannock County on December 6, 1973, commencing at 10:00 A.M.: BE IT ORDAINED, by the Board of Supervisors, that the Dog License Tax Ordinance of Rappahannock County be superceded and reenacted as follows: SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to own or keep a dog six (6) months old or over in Rappahannock County unless such dog is licensed, as required by the provisions of this ordinance. Dog licenses shall run for the calendar year, namely, from January 1 until December 31, inclusive, and the license tax shall be paid at the office of the Treasurer. .SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for any person to import into, or to breed within, the County of Rappahannock, any German or Belgian Shepherd or any other dog having one-fourth or more of the blood of either of them, without'obtaining the license hereinafter provided for.

SECTION 3. Each and every person owning any such dog of the breed, or blood mentioned in Section 2 of the ordinance, within the County of Rappahannock, shall after January the first, nineteen hundred and seventy-four, procure from the county treasurer a special license for such dog to be in lieu of all other licenses on such dogs, the tax on which special licenses shall be as follows:

(a) For a female, ten dollars ($10.00)

(b) For a male, five dollars ($5.00) ^

(c) For an unsexed female, provided such female is successfully

spayed as shown by a veternarian’s certificate presented to

the Treasurer, five dollars ($5.00).

SECTION 4. Each and every person owning any dog other than the breed or blood mentioned in Section 2 of this ordinance within the County of Rappahannock, shall after January 1, 1974, procure from the County Treasurer a license for such dog, the tax on which shall be as follows:

(a) For a female, five dollars ($5.00)

(b) For a male, three dollars ($3.00)

(c) For an unsexed female, provided such female is successfully

spayed as shown by a veteraarian’s certificate presented to the

Treasurer, three dollars ($3.00).
