courtyards from the back rooms,” Mrs. Lipko said, pointing to the space between the old building and the auditorium. “The courtyard out of the library will be an all white garden, white gladiolias, white peonies, white dahlias, white shasta daisies. This one,” she continued, crossing through the narrow passageway that connects the auditorium to the main building, “will be entered from the kitchen. Here we’ll have herbs, hollyhocks and sweet peas, the kind of things your grandmother’s garden had.”
Four massive chimneys will be added to the main building. And there’ll probably be eight fireplaces.
“Upstairs we’ll have a master suite, our bedroom and our sitting room will each have a fireplace and we’ll have ‘his’ and ‘hers’ baths. Across the hall we’ll either have two bedrooms, each with a fireplace, or another suite. Another suite, I think,” she said, making up her mind.
“You know, when the drapery man saw this place he nearly had a heart at• tack.” Mrs. Lipko noted that each room has about eight windows, each nearly eight feet tall. Before undertaking the list of her plans for the auditorium wing, Mrs. Lipko paused to talk about her plans for the front yard.
