Track season opened this week and the girlsJiad their first meet Thursday with Stonewall Jackson. We placed first in high jump; second in shot; third in the 220; second and fourth in hurdles and first, second and third in the long jump and discus. In many of the running events we dropped behind to see a final score of 54-42 in Stonewall’s favor.

The boys track group initiated the season Monday with a meet at Central in which they competed with three schools. Final scoring was Central 92; Luray 74; Rappahannock 70 1/2 and Page County 13 1/2. Harry Jordan was high scorer with 11 1/2 points.

The baseball enthusiasts at RCHS have a project going to secure funds for a pitching machine for the athletic department. There will be a drawing for a prize on May 2 at the Rappahannock-Elkton baseball game. Help the guys out with the project. Contact any team member.

There will be a record hop at the Sperryville fire hall on April 12 from 8 until midnight. This is sponsored by the Senior Class and admission is $1.25 stag and $2 drag. Refreshments will be served and there should be fun for all.
