There is a difference
The term Realtor* is the distinctive and exclusive designation for individuals who are members of the National Association and serves the singular purpose of identifying and distinguishing those members from all other persons engaged in real estate activities. The term denotes both business competence and high standards of business conduct. The term is not a synonym for “real estate agent.” It is federally registered as a collective service mark and is not just an ordinary word. Realtors,* and only Realtors," have pledged to observe and abide by the Code of Ethics established by the National Association in 1916. This Code has only been amended twice since its adoption.
