PETER KRAMER, a Washington, Va. cabinetmaker and builder, will present a free woodworking demonstration and furniture exhibit on Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at his shop in Washington.
The demonstration marks the opening of a local display for the artisan’s handicrafted reproductions. The new showroom will be ready for the public, but is still undergoing restoration, as is most of the old apple-packing shed which houses his workshop. The building historically was a livery stable and blacksmith shop and for a number of years an apple packing center for the production of local orchards.
The craft program will feature Kramer and two of his cabinetmakers, Ben Giles and Joe Williams, in simultaneous demonstrations contrasting the use of antique tools with modern power equipment.
