pails swing on chains of varying lengths from the ceiling, hundreds of seedlings, for vegetables and flowers, cover table and counter tops, geraniums peek from the doors of potbellied cast iron stoves. “We’ll have a sort of plant chandelier over this table,” she said, holdingup the wooden yoke for a team of oxen and explaining that it would be hung from the ceiling and plants in buckets, pots and pails, hung from it. “And i can do something similar with this old logging chain and hook somewhere else.”
She’s made some fast friends at the Rappahannock Farmers’ Co-op, Mrs. Lipko claims. “But they’re all curious about what I’m doing with all these buckets and chains.”
“What we really want to do with this place is show that there’s no need to throw anything away,” she said, and picked up the ends of an old iron bed. “One of these I can use for a gate,' the ironwork is really quite nice, and the other I might stick in the ground, to run my sweet peas over.”
