ges. Instead of bright white concrete, it’s tinted with ferrous oxide (dry coloring) so the concrete- will look like the natural rock color in the area.
The ferrous oxide comes in ten colors—Sand, Suntan, Terra Cotta, Yellow Buff, Goldenrod, Canyon Red, Tile Red, Brown, Nile Green and Slate.
The problem, admits Askew is getting the right color. The first two “rustic” bridges iii the district have a strange pink hue. Askew hopes that by making some core samples of nearby rocks a better color mixture can be made. The problem is that most rocks are multi-colored, with blotches of reds, greens, blues, but basically gray. Over a period of time the pink hue will fade, said Askew, leaving a color closer to that of rock in the area.
