GRANDPA JONES SAYS: “That makes me mad, and when I’m mad I’m mad I’m mad.” Well, Si ain’t mad at nobody, but what is that song about narrow minded people on a narrow minded street?
Let us think this week about religious bigotry. Some think that the Jewish Bible is the only book that was ever written for the betterment of mankind, and that Christianity is the only great religion. Mohammedism was forced on a people with this choice—Kiss the Koran or die. Some exponents of the Christian faith think you have a choice—accept our creeds and dogmas or go to hell.
We quote from the Bible frequently. We love it; I just don’t take it as literally as some. In its original writings it was in poetic form mostly, I’m told. In some of the modern forms it is reverting back to poetry. David was a shepherd poet of ancient times, his twenty-third Psalm is beautiful. “Yahweh is my keeper, I lack nothing.” And then “I will live in His , house forever.” It is said that poets speak the language of the gods. Whittier was a more contemporary poet, his Eternal Goodness rivals, if not exceeds, any poetry extant. Read the whole poem, here are the first and last verses.—
“O friends with whom my feet have trod
The quite aisles of prayer,
Glad witness of your zeal for God
And love of man I bear
And Thou, 0 Lord, by Whom are seen
Thy creatures as they be,
Forgive me if too close I lean
My human heart on Thee.”
Jesus made the ambiguous statement that He was like the Father. Some have grabbed onto that as mean<- • ing He claimed to be God. He also said that John the Baptiser was the reincarnation of Elijah, they ignore that.
Christ said that the Father IS the Holy Spirit, that He IS Love. The God-of-my heart IS THAT God. I do not accept your little god who gets mad, gets jealous. “I’ll get you for that” type of being. We’re what WE sow—that is ALL. That is what the Law of Karma is all about—
GOD’S LAW
