Newbill Miller, chairman of the Board of Supervisors and a Planning Commissioner, who had attended the work sessions that resulted in the recommendation to delet the two subsections, disagreed.

“Maybe I’d be willing to keep (b), but I have no use for (c),” he said. “It’s unduly restrictive.” Miller thought that a premature subdivision clause “would catch the big ones.”

Eileen Day, however, thought the two subsections should stay. “There should be minimum standards for roads in any subdivision. People come and scream at the county for services. They’ll want the school bus and the fire truck up there.”

“Without them there aren’t enough controls,” added Captain W. J. Kime. “I support Irwin and McNear.”

Newbill Miller offered a compromise. “Let’s change (a) to 50 acres, leave (b) in, and take (c) out.”
