“SPERRY VILLE is number one on the priority list,” Pete Luke told Rappahannock’s Supervisors at their meeting last Thursday. Luke said that the State Water Control Board has placed Sperryville at the head of a list of study projects for sewage treatment alternatives.
“It seems that we made enough noise about. our problems up here to get them to look at the plight of small towns,” Luke said. “They’ve (the State Water Control Board) now got the Mitre Corporation studying small communities. They’re focusing on them, now that they’ve recognized that the problems of the small community need a different solution from the bigger, more populated areas.”
Luke said the State Water Control Board still endorses Planning District Nine’s Water Quality Management Plan “as guide.”
“But they now realize that the problems of a small place are unique, and those big-scale treatment plants just aren’t appropriate.”
