ROBERT LEONARD, Director of Instruction, explained that in the high school for the next five years, three sections of English 12 and two sections of English will be needed as well as in government and history groups. Even considering the 6% anticipated dropout, the upper grade classes will be overflowing, it was stated. The possibility of a trailer facility for temporary use was discussed to solve the immediated space shortage.
David Schwemer, head of the Chapter 10 Mental Health and Retardation group, collaborated with the Rappahannock County School Board at its April meeting concerning the services available to the school from the chapter. " He and his staff will work, with teachers and special education classes to supplement special ed services. He reported that as of May 1, a speech therapy service position will be filled, and that he recognizes the need for the two factions to work together. The school, he said, is a vehicle by which those in need can be reached.
Mr. Schwemer listed the services now available from the Mental Health and Mental Retardation chapter. Included are an outpatient clinic in Culpeper; a family guidance center in Warrenton; Mental Health clinic in Orange, both out patient.
