The redwood studio building, with a wall of sliding glass doors opening onto a deck, was built for Mrs. Luke by her husband, Rappahannock Supervisor Pete Luke, with the help of their two grown sons.
A studio is a familier environment for Mrs. Luke. Her father, Leslie Turner, a commercial artist for several magazines, including The Saturday Evening Post, started the comic strip “Captain Easy,” also known as “Wash Tubbs.” It was later taken over by another artist. □
CHURCH BANQUET
A banquet for the benefit of Hopewell Baptist Church is set for Saturday, April 20 and will be held at the Sperryville fire hall beginning at 6 p.m. Sponsors of the dinner are Mrs. M.B. Brokenburr and Miss Harriett Lewis. □
