MRS. REBECCA PATTERSON of Rappahannock County has been hired as Co-ordinator of Mental Retardation Services for the Planning District 9 Community Mental Health and Mental Retardation Services.
Mrs. Patterson was introduced to the Chapter 10 Board by executive director David Schwemer on April 9. She will head all the board’s mental retardation services and assist other agencies in the community in developing programs to better serve the handicapped in the Fauquier, Rappahannock, Culpeper, Orange and Madison region. • The Board also endorsed a proposal that the proposed mental health clinic at the Fauquier Hospital incorporate a speech and hearing clinic. The Chapter 10 Board has applied for federal funds to construct the new regional mental health clinic. Besides the clinic in Warrenton, clinics are also planned for Culpeper and Orange.
The Board officially designated “The Goldsborough House, located at 401 East Piedmont Street in Culpeper as the group home for mentally handicapped women. Mrs. Constance Bridgmen has been hired as a speech therapist to work out of the Culpeper Easter Seal Center for the region. The Board also endorsed a proposal by the Virginia Department of Health, Division of Alcoholism Services, that will create a “satelite clinic” for an alcoholic rehabilitation program for the region. □
