THE 1974 support prices are 72 cents a pound for wool and 80.2 cents a pound for mohair, the same as for 1973. The average prices received by producers during the first three months of 1974 are 72.5 cents a pound for wool and $1.73 cents per pound for mohair.
This is the first year in the history of the Wool Act in which market prices for wool have exceeded support prices. In recent years, annual payments on wool and unshorn lambs under this program have ranged from about $50 to $100 million. □
