Rust advised consumers to be cautious in selecting a painting contractor, preferably dealing only with known, reputable firms such as listed in the yellow pages of telephone books.
“The Virginia Paint Law requires all spray paint contractors who have not had an established business in Virginia for at least one year to apply for a license from VDAC. A license is not issued unless, and until, the paint contractor furnishes a surety bond of $5,000. Therefore, if the painter is unknown in your area, ask to see this license,” Rust says.D
