MARTIN JOHNSON, who was sent by the State Department of Taxation to assist Rappahannock County in conducting a real estate reassessmept program, has been transferred by the state to another county. Mort Bacon, who headed up the reassessment program in Rapphannock 12 years ago, has been named as his replacement.
Reassessment of Rappahannock County real estate, which is required by state law at least once every six years, is “roughly half through,” according to Herbert Barksdale, a member of the county reassessment board which oversees the work done by state apprais - ers.
“Mr. Bacon will pick up where Mr. Johnson left off. Since Mr. Bacon was here before and has had many years experience in the state department, we expect things will go faster now,” Barksdale said.
