Candidates for political offices are urged to caution their campaign workers against attaching signs to utility poles.
Potomac Edison Company officials issued that appeal, citing the safety of linemen as the principal reason. Signs affixed to poles create hazards when linemen must climb poles for repair work. Such objects could cause the lineman’s climbing spurs to “cut out” possibly resulting in a fall or other serious injury.
In many localities, placing of any type of sign on utility poles is prohibited by law. □
