BAUMGARDNER mentioned that a group of people had gotten together to talk about “how to make the ski area a going concern.” This was seen as in the best interests of the county because it would afford recreation and employment, Baumgardner said.
“We were talking about ways it could be kept open all year — trail rides, nature tours, a year round restaurant. Come on Jack, you were there. You help me out,” Baumgardner said to Jack DeBergh.
“No I’ll let you handle it. You’re doing so well,” DeBergh demurred. “Well, we talked about coon hunts and ‘Foxfire’ lore; imaginations went pretty wild. Maybe going onto private land in Harris Hollow,” Baumgardner said.
“Is skiing going to be one of the activities?” David Fannon asked.
DeBergh answered that officials at the ski area were to make a decision by September 6 as to whether the ski area sould open for business this winter.
