Aged and disabled persons or couples who receive Supplemental Security Income and have no other persons living in the household are generally eligible for food stamps. Persons living in Rappahannock County who wish to apply should contact the Pood Stamp Unit of the Welfare Office in Washington, Ya., phone 675-3200 for an application form and appointment for an interview. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. each week day except Wednesday. No applications are taken on Wednesday, the office is open from 2-5 p.m. to answer questions.
