OBVIOUSLY, there is quality though not quantity for Rappahannock Panthers won their first track meet recently, and with only 15 men. Previously many single events had been taken in track competition, but not complete meets. Chalking up this victory were Milton Fletcher, Roger Roberts, Acey Frye, Jim Lum, Fred Frye, Andy Nichols, Donnell Carter, Bill Taylor, Ronnie Nicholson, Jerry Thomas, Clifton Jenkins, Raymond Groves, Otis Jordan and Festus Clanagan.
Ronnie Nicholson, Donnell Carter, Raymond Groves, Jerry Thomas and Andy Nichols were named to the All District team. Milton Fletcher received the trophy best in field events and Bill Taylor as best track man.
IN SPITE of being a small school and lacking in facilities and equipment, the RCHS athletes do not let such obstacles impede their progress. Their enthusiasm is catching and the effort spectacular; the awards deserving.
Clarke Greene recognized the eighth-grade basketball team and praised them for their hard work and preservereness. Greene noted that these boys were the future for Rappahannock basketball.
