The Warrenton Chapter is named for famed Fauquier sportsman and conservationist Randy Carter, who was credited with having done more than any other person to fight for the protection of the Rappahannock River. Scott Carter and Joe Hollidge from the Randy Carter Chapter were on hand for the canoe trip.
The Rappahannock River was crowded Saturday. Besides theFloat Fishermen’s flotilla of 35 canoes, there were numerous other canoes, kayaks and rafts floating down the river.
Some conservationists have expressed the fear that State Scenic River designation of the Rappahannock would encourage overuse of the river. But others retort that people will use the river whether its designated “scenic” or not. More important is the protection
