at dedication
The new G. Richard Thompson Wildlife Management will be dedicated in ceremonies Saturday, June 7. The Virginia Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries is renaming the 3,800 acre wild life management area, formerly known . as Apple Manor in honor of Thompson, who was instrumental in obtaining the land for the state. Thompson, who lives in Marshall, retired from the Game and Inland Fisheries Commission two years ago.
Virginia Senator Harry Flood Byrd, Jr. will be the speaker at the dedication. The public is invited to the ceremonies which will begin at noon. The dedication ceremony will take place at the Thompson Memorial Lake on Route 688 three miles south of Paris or six miles north of Markham.□
