CONGRESSMAN J. Kenneth Robinson urged Rappahannock County High School graduates Sunday night “to compare our system of government with any other in the world and ask yourself if you would trade ours off—keeping in mind that the shortcomings, in most cases, are not faults in our system but lapses of character in individuals, who should be called to account.”
“It is essential that we, the people, of every age, of every social and economic condition, participate actively in the system, and be vigilant as to the actions, or inactions, or those of our number, who have been chosen for positions of power and influence over the lives of us all,” Robinson said.
The 7th District Representative delivered the baccalaureate address to the 1975 graduating class of Rappahannock County High School. He noted that, “despite the solid record of survivability, doubt and cynicism about the institutions of government have spread” and added:
