led. One was behind the Sperryville Emporium on land belonging to Clifford Miller; the second site also belonged to Clifford Miller, a bit further downstream; the third site was orchard land belonging to W.N. Lane; the fourth site was another Miller tract, across the river from Lane’s orchard.
A fifth site was in the southeast corner of Routes 522 and 231. The next two sites were on Jim Bill Fletcher’s land, up Route 620. The last two sites were way back ig> the river, up the north fork toward Washington, on Lucio Kilby’s property.
All the sites have been eliminated except Fletcher’s and Kilby’s, George Long said. But neither landowner would permit the engineers on their property to take actual soil samples.
