FINAL race of the warm, sunny afternoon was the Meeting House Mountain Plate, a flat race named for the mountain directly behind the course. This one, too, was taken by the girls.
Winner was Ligonier’s Barbara Kraeling, whipper-in for Rolling Rock Hunt and very knowledgeable about hounds, on huntsman Lovell Stickley’s Fuzz Ears. Barbara, a licensed trainer, is the only woman to have ever won a race over fences at a national hunt meet. This he did last fall at Radnor on Fuzz Ears.
Second by three lengths, deftly threading her way through the front runners in the stretch, was Kathee Rengert on S. H. R. Fred’s
