THE HALF dozenth tooting of the Bicentennial Bugle finds this to tootle about: First, on the 23rd day (or evening) of this Springy month of April at 8 p.m. in the Rappahannock County Elementary School auditorium there will be a full and varied program of Bicentennial Biz.
Leading the list will be a Magic Lantern show, a venerable kind of viewing that hearkens back a full century before the notable date we celebrate.
The title of this elderly entertainment is “eighteenth Century North Culpeper” which must not mislead you because, in fact, that is our own Rappahannock, the severance from Culpeper not having occurred until 1833. The colored slides taken by Capt. Howard Hosschuh will reveal our 18th Century houses and other contemporary curiosities.
There will be tickets sold for this picture show in the hope of allaying a part of the attendant expenses but they are minimal: 75 cents for adults and 25 cents for children. Co-chairmen of this department are Mrs. Pauline Bruce and Mrs. Mary Quaintance
