Editor: Now jthat the process of photographing and recording the details of the 18th Century buildings of Rappahannock County is coming down the home stretch, I wish to thank all those who have invited us into their homes. Their hospitality has resulted in a collection of several hundred colored slides of cabins, barns, mills, and palatial homes which graced our county when the Revolution was young.

We have tried to include everything from distant views of the building in its natural setting to close-ups of the carpenter’s or stone mason’s art.

The Bicentennial committee is sponsoring a slide show featuring about 50 of the oldest structures of Rappahannock County, at 8 p.m. April 23, at the Elementary School. It should be both an interesting and educational evening.

We will continue photographing 18th century buildings throughout the county until all have been recorded on film. Anyone knowing
