As of October 1, said Buntin, he and his deputies are writing traffic violations on county warrants instead of state. “I don’t know why this wasn’t done in the past,” said Buntin. “It will bring in a good bit of revenue—$400 in October.” He noted that previously, this money went to the state when state warrants were used.

Buntin added that his department had already written 100 violations for not having county tags. All the offenders weren’t convicted but enough were to make this also a source of considerable revenue, according to Buntin. The warrants and tags will more than balance out the additional mileage and telephone costs, he maintained.
