Atkins
Joseph Buracker Atkins, 86, of Sperryville died November 8,1976 at his residence. A native of Rappahannock County, he was the son of the late George Franklin and Elmira America Dodson Atkins. His wife was the late Elizabeth Woodard Atkins.
Mr. Atkins was a member of the Sperryville United Methodist Church. He operated “Acorn Brook” Gift Shop and Fruit Stand in Sperryville for about fifty years.
He is survived by three sons, Alvin Loyd Atkins, Joseph Franklin Atkins and Lyle Wilson Atkins, all of Sperryville; a daughter, Mrs. John Dodson of Sperryville; 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Geest Funeral Home Chapel in Culpeper with Elder Kirby Shenk conducting the services and burial was in the Sperryville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Hugh Atkins, Cecil Atkins, Wilson Burke, Alson Atkins, Roy Leake, John Eubank, Elmer Atkins and Roy Atkins. □
