The publication includes three large, multicolored geologic maps, which have the various rock formations shown in distinctively different colors on a topographic base.
THE 93-page Bulletin 86, “Geology of the Shenandoah National Park, Virginia,” by Thomas M. Gath right II contains descriptions of the rocks and geologic structures, and the places to see them. Fifty photographs and other illustrations are included.
The bulletin contains an easyto-follow road guide to features along the 105 miles of Skyline Drive in the park. The origin and geologic history of the Blue Ridge park area is discussed.
