A new book is being readied for holiday season enjoyment by the Culpeper Historical Society, Inc., as Culpeper’s “permanent contribution to our nation’s BiCentennial observance.”
Compiled and edited by Mary Stevens Jones, “An 18th Century Perspective: Culpeper County,” is the work of more than a dozen authors and researchers, all but four of them residents of Culpeper County. Its 150. pages contain 15 chapters plus two comprehensive bibliographies, and is illustrated with maps, drawings, engravings and other graphics of the period of the 1700’s.
“18th Century Culpeper County” contains details of family foundings, the lineage of land, buildings and properties, and roles played by early inhabitants whose descendants are today’s citizens:
The book is now in manufacture by Green Publishing Co., Orange, and will be distributed by Culpeper Book Store and The Comer Book Shelf in Culpeper, where advance reservations will be accepted.
