Tuesday the Panthers traveled to Montevideo, to play against the Maroons. Both J.V. and Varsity put forth great effort but were defeated by their opponents.
The J.V.’s score was Montevideo 47 and Panthers 24. High scorer for the Panthers was Jimmy Tomko with 11 points. Good try Panthers! The Varsity's score was Montevideo 71, the Panthers with 50. High scorer for Panthers was Gary Leake with 17 points, Gary Settle had 12, and Wade Brown brought 8 for the Panthers. Gary Leake was high rebounder, bringing down 9 rebounds. Better game next time!
The Panthers played on their home court Friday night against the Page County, Panthers. The J.V.'s played a very tough game against Page but they just couldn’t hang on. The score of the J.V. game was Rappahannock 32 and Page 39. High scorer for the Panthers was Jimmy Tomko.
The Varsity game though was a lot different. Rappahannock had 83 points to Page’s 74. The guys played a great game against their opponents. Gary Settle was high scorer with 21 points. Others in double figures were WJde Brown, Gary Leake, Greg Bright, and Tony Armentrout with 19, 15, 10 and 10 points respectively. You really deserved the game guys!
The Panthers played a very challenging game Saturday night, but they didn’t make a victory. The J.V. score was Panthers 32 and the Mountaineers was 52. Jimmy Tomko was high scorer. Mike Leake was high rebounder. The varsity team played a hard fought game against the Mountaineers but came up short with a score of 59 to 69. Gary Leake was high scorer against Madison with 22 points. Gary Settle and Greg Bright were also in double Figures with 12 and 11 points. Good try guys!
