Of all things! I went into the; Men’s Room at the General Assembly and they had put up a sign which had these words in red letters, ‘‘Please conserve paper products, your cooperation is needed.” These fellows down here are working on the wrong end. That sign belongs in the regulatory rooms of the state agencies or the bill room where bills are printed. A lijttle less of each and we would all be better off.
Speaking of paper, the bills are rolling in by the bushel now—so fast that some committees have not given time for the removal of bugs. We had one tonight that ilasted over an hour with seven amendments while debate was going on. Most of the amendments could have been done in committee and saved time on the floor. It was ; a bill to exempt homebuilders from claims against construction after a year of warranty. 1 asked three different lawyers and got three different answers on the way back to the office. We really won’t know until tomorrow when the bill comes up for vote whether it is like it ought to be.
A bill on new changes in the way Judges may handle divorce proceedings was passed after a lengthy debate. All of us husbands had better be real nice to our fine wives if this bill is passed by the Senate and signed by the Governor.
