tight when the tower is erected. To have all the nuts screwed tight before a second tower is put up would require holding a crane idle for twoand-a-half-hours, he said. So, instead, the crane moves on to erect another tower while the rest of the nuts wait for a shake-down crew.
In regard to the washers and nuts scattered around the tower locations, Carmack said the pieces of hardware were probably discards left over from putting the tower together. The larger nuts and bolts used to anchor the power line towers to concrete bases are specifically assigned to each tower and are kept at construction headquarters until needed, according to the safety director. “They aren't scattered around. They're too expensive." he concluded.

Four-H’ers of Rappahannock County, who are selling white and pink dogwoods and redbuds to beautify the county, would like to urge citizens, businesses and organizations of the county to plant a tree in memory of someone or dedicate it to someone. Special orders for this purpose. 4-5 foot pink dogwoods at $16 each and 45 foot white dogwoods at $13 each, can be placed with the Extension Office at Washington. Delivery will be made on April 5.
