bingo worthwhile after expenses. The amendment was defeated 52 to 37 and the next day the Bill passed 93 to 6. Now it's on the way to the Senate. I have testified three times for Paul of Rappahannock, Willie of Orange and Allen of Culpeper, all of whom have been down here at least once and I reckon I'll have to give it a go again when it appears before the Senate Committee. 1 am sure not going to quit now after clearing the urban hurdles up to this point.
1 can see a tough fight ahead on a bill to repeal the state tax on capital not otherwise taxed and to exempt totally from taxation intangible personal property now taxed. It will be a big help to industry both old and new. It seems that some of our adjoining states already have this. Our Finance Committee Chairman will blow a fuse when it reaches his full Committee. The bill was reported out by the subcommittee of which I happen to be a member and 1 can hardly wait to see the expression on the Chairman’s face. Even the Tax Department stated it was a difficult tax to collect and is costly for those who do the collecting.
