Four traffic mishaps involving deer have been reported by Trooper R. A. Baines. According to the officer, Ruth Sullivan of Warrenton operating a 73 Chevrolet struck a deer November 22 on Route 211 east of Amissville. Damage to the car was estimated at $350. The same day a deer was struck on the Washington by-pass of Route 211 by Linda Ramer of Culpeper who was driving a 74 Jeep. Damage was set at $250 to this vehicle, said Baines.
And again November 22 the third animal was hit on the Viewtown road by Loretta Gray of Rixeyville in a 76 Chevrolet which sustained damage in the amount of $450. November 24 on Route 522 north of Flint Hill Sammy Foreback of Flint Hill in a 79 Chevrolet pickup struck a deer and damage to the truck was estimated at $375.
Friday morning about 1:30 a.m., two vehicles collided on Route 623 between Washington and Sperryville. Involved were Donald Jenkins of Washington in a 79 Ford Bronco and Donald Beahm also of Washington in a 70 Chevrolet pickup.
According to Trooper Baines, Beahm lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree and Jenkins struck the Beahm vehicle in the rear. Beahm was cited for reckless driving and Jenkins was charged with following too closely, said Baines. Susan Jenkins, a passenger with her husband, was taken to the hospital by Washington Rescue Squad.
Catherine Howen of Charlottesville was charged with reckless driving as the result of a collision with Paul Morawski of Alexandria on November 23, on Route 211 at Rediviva.
The Howen vehicle, a 75 Opel, was totaled in the collision when she veered into the path of the 1978 Toyota driven by Morawski which had an estimated $1200 in damages.
