Washington House also carries a wide selection of corn husk dolls, the creations of Eva Stephenson of Sperryville. “They’re the best line of corn husk dolls I’ve ever seen,” said Fran, pointing with pride at figures that include a nativity scene, angels, a country blue grass band ana one old fellow tipping a jug of corn whiskey. The store also has stained glass tree ornaments made by Mrs. Stephenson’s daughter, Peggy, a student at RCHS.
Washington House of Reproductions is open by appointment only on Monday and Tuesday and from 10 am. through 10 p.m. on Wednesday through Sunday.

John Walker Jenkins Auction House on the comer of Gay Street offers something for everyone in a country version of a big city department store. From paintings to jewelry, stuffed animals to wood stoves, antique cash registers to inexpensive glassware and Rappahannock Lions Club fruit cakes, the auction house has it all. And in a real treat for the bargain conscious gift giver, the prices on most of the items aren’t hard and fast—there’s room for a little negotiating. The Auction House is open from 8:30 am. to 4 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and from 10 am. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
