The Country Store sparkles with holiday spirit. New owner Candy Coombs has her Christmas tree decorated with hand-crafted ornaments and twinkling with lights, surrounded by gift ideas, cards, and decorations.
The little shop located in the center of town next door to The Inn is a perfect place for youngsters with a pocket full of quarters to find a present for mom and dad. Candy has stocked a wide range of reasonable items from $1 to $5: tiny little treasure boxes, ceramic magnets decorated with flowers and butterflies (perfect for leaving a list of instructions on the ice box where kids will be sure to see), natural soaps and soap dishes imported from England, herbs and spices for the bath as well as the soup pot.
The Country Store presents a challenge to kids. As soon as they catch a glimpse of the old fashioned glass candy case they may have a hard time remembering they’re in the store to buy gifts for someone else. With inflation, it’s no longer penny candy but the prices are low enough to ensure sticky -peppermint fingers and a licorice smeared mouth.
