Following a public hearing at last Thursday’s board meeting, the Rappahannock supervisors voted unanimously to rezone 9.66 acres behind the new farmers’ cooperative building from agriculture to commercial (B-2).
In taking the action, they discounted arguments that the uses proposed by the coop could take place under the property’s current agricultural zoning with a special use permit and disregarded objections from private citizens and members of the county’s planning commission that the amount of land included in the application is excessive.
