To the Editor:
As a student at Rappahannock County High, I feel that 1 have a right to express my opinions about decisions which will affect my future. If I end up failing out of college because the school I graduate from didn’t prepare me well enough, I feel I will be justified in laying quite a bit of the blame at the feet of the school board and the supervisors.
The students at R. C. H. S. have always been concerned about the school. We are the ones who have to represent it in a proper manner. A manner the school board feels is proper. Why can’t the school represent us in a manner we, the students feel is proper?
Sure, we know that our county is small and we can’t have everything every other school has, but why can’t we at least have some of the things they do? Why do we have to be the kids that get the “bare minimum”? It’s not what you call inspiring! If we want something we have to either get it ourselves or make do with something that falls very short of being what we need. Example—The almost finished track sitting behind the school that the P.A.L., concerned citizens and students built.
Last year when there was an issure about adding on to and improving the school, board members and supervisors came by the school for a “visit” and yes, they did look at the school but they didn't ask us any questions. When we tried to attend a supervisors meeting they made it near impossible for us to attend. Many of us went anyway, and witnessed an incredible meeting.
