Scheduled
The Flint Hill firemen’s carnival is scheduled for July 30 to Aug. 2 at the carnival grounds adjoining the firehouse on Fodderstack Rd.
Wednesday is a special family night when kids may ride any ride for one low price.
Featured Thursday night will be a parade beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Grand marshal of the parade will be Holly Jereme, the newly crowned “Miss Virginia 1980”. Also appearing will be “Miss Shenandoah Apple Blossom”, Mary Anne Wallenfelsz, and “Miss Virginia Farm Bureau”, Suzanne Renny Bush.
The parade will include high school bands, majorette groups and individuals, drum and baton corps, floats, Shrine and Legion units joined by fire and rescue units and marching groups.
An exhibit by the Virginia Department of Highway and Transportation, as well as an exhibit by the Wildlife Association and State Fire Services Training, will be on display in the firehouse.
Saturday night’s highlight will be awarding of prizes, including a 1980 Ford Pinto, registered Black Angus (live), two season tickets to the Washington Redskins games, a sofa and chair combination, homemade afghan and many others.
Evety night there will, be food and drinks available and box suppers will be sold beginning at 5 p.m. on Thursday, parade night.
