"They’re always willing and eager,” he said, noting that the young man and two young ladies assigned to the high school are also students there. "So we know each other. We have a good working relationship," he said.

After scraping decals off lockers and gum from underneath desks, the trio at RCHS has gained more than work experience.

"They’ve said they have insight now into what 1 holler about all year on taking care of school property,” Wingfield chuckled.

Merle Scoggin, commissioner of revenue, is so satisfied with her CETA worker that she wants to keep the young lady on parttime during the school year.

"She has done real well and been a tremendous help. This is the first time we’ve had the program in this office and we’re quite pleased with it." Mrs. Scoggin said.

School board office secretary Judy Atkins appreciates her CETA assistant who does typing, filing, and copying and other routine office jobs. “It really helps out when you’re busy and need something done. She does an excellent job."

At the elementary school, two CETA youngsters are helping with summer cleaning of the building while a third is assigned to the office.

“We’ve had no problems with any of the kids goofing off." said principal Graham Spencer. “We’re very pleased with the program. The kids are willing and working very hard at it.”

According to director Anne Cahill, who with assistants Lizzie Eastham and Donna Bates supervises the CETA program here, youngsters are also working at the highway department as general laborers and flagmen, at the welfare department as clerical help and at Sursum Corda Day Care Center as teacher aides and maintenance jacks-of-all-trade. In addition, five youngsters ride
