Robertson was citing
the dangers of inflation to the Congress, saying “prices are now increasing in leaps and bounds. I do not think increased prices are justified.” (History certainly repeats itself. 1 The Northern Virginia Power Company completed a new line through Jenkins Hollow and practically all the homes there are being served with current. The Highway Department had graded and resurfaced the short-cut road from Route 231, affording a quick and easy route to Sperryville. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sanderson purchased the 16 acre property of Edward Jenkins in the hollow while Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Carter were spending their weekends here and Miss Mildred Holmes was about to begin construction on a log cabin on the 10acre plot purchased from Roy Jenkins. Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Pillar were using their summer cottage on the Hazel River.

An electrical storm
caused a fire at the
Charles Jenkins home near Washington and ignited a fire in the courthouse office of Judge T. C. Lea. Lightning ran in on the radio in Lea’s office, melting the plastic case on a radio and igniting some papers. Guy Burke was in the office at the time cleaning and discovered the blaze, putting it out.
The Rev. Charles Glaenzer, Rector of Trinity Church, Washington, completed a summer course at Rutgers University in New Jersey on Alcohol Studies.
Mr. and Mrs. James Magee of Amissville were receiving congratulations on the birth of a daughter, Amanda Rae at Fauquier Hospital, Warren ton.
