In the instructional group for youngsters seven years and under, Douglas Kilpatrick won the trophy for most improved player.
Awards for dedication above and beyond the call of duty were given umpires Jimmy Foster and C. E. Dodson. In addition, RAA president Guy Foster was presented a plaque commemorating his four years of service to the baseball program.
“An awful lot of people turned out to help this year,” Foster reported. He added that the RAA was especially proud of the safety record for the 1980 season which saw no injuries except a few minor scratches and bruises. “In addition, we had no big upheavals from the parents and fans." Foster said.
He urged sports enthusaists to attend the RAA All-Star double-header against Madison Little Leaguers set for Saturday. July 26. beginning at 1 p.m. at Waverly Yowell School in Madison and the All-Star contest against the Amissville team at Amissville on Tuesday, July 29, at 6:30 p.m.
Several All-Star home games are also planned with scheduling to be announced.
