First Annual

EMS Day Set

The Culpeper County Rescue Squad and the Rappahannock-Rapidan Emergency Medical Services Council will co-sponsor the first annual EMS Day on May 9 in Culpeper. This event, entitled “EMS Day, ’81”, will be held at the Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises fairgrounds from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. The event is designed to bring together representatives of some 20 rescue squads, 3 hospitals, several state and local government officials and state and regional EMS representatives from Planning District 9 and other regions.

Approximately 20 manufacturers and distributors of EMS equipment ranging from oxygen apparatus to ambulances will display and demonstrate their wares. In addition, there will be several demonstrations on removal of injured patients from wrecked automobiles and a demonstration and display of the recently established system of patient evacuation by helicopter.

This year, the event is open only to the aforementioned representatives and not to the public. The vendors will sponsor a free pork barbeque for the attendees. It is hoped that the event can be opened to the public next year.
